Drawing Noses

Hello good people

At long last I finished my nose drawings, and I am pretty happy with (most of) them. These are the last drawings in my practice series - the first post can be found here. It took a while longer than expected, and my laziness is probably to blame. Oh well, what to do. I have begun using a little coal in the drawings, to get some darker shades. I think it creates a way better contrast, and helps the drawing becoming more three-dimensional. Please do take a look:

And the references:

I am going to make a secret sub-project for this project, just to end it off properly. By the way, I ordered some eraser pencils yesterday. I have been looking for something like that since always, and I cannot wait to try them!

Well, that most be all for now

School Project: SEM Design

From around the start of this year I have been working on a project during design class, in the gymnasium where I study (Ric also studies at that gymnasium, and has done the same project). Our assignment was to make an anniversary banner, where we had to pretend that we were well known people, celebrating our 10 years anniversary.

Now the project is finished, and here is what I came up with:

Drawing Eyes

Hello people!

I am back with another set of drawings, this time eyes. I have been trying to find some interesting and funny eyes, but also some “normal” ones. Nine this time, and here they are:

And references:

Hope you like them.

Drawing Hair

Hello again people

Next drawing(s) in my practice series is now (finally) done! This time it was hair I was drawing, and I picked out three different types of hair: Long, dark and curly, short, and long and blonde.

And of course also the reference photos:

Drawing Ears

Hello yet again!

I am now done with the new drawings, this time it was ears. I have been drawing nine ears, and I am quiet satisfied, so here they are:

The scan is a tad more contrasted this time. Like with the mouths, I gathered the reference photos for comparison.

Next time I am going to draw hair, but since hair is bigger than the other facial parts, I will only draw a couple of different hair types.

As earlier, feel free to comment!

Merry Christmas,
Simon

Practicing the Art of Drawing

Hello again, Simon here

Today I am starting a small personal project, to increase my pencil drawing skills. Normally I would just keep drawing portraits and alike to become better, but I will try to do things differently now, and see how it goes from there.

I am going to practice different parts of the face, so I will take one part, for example an eye, and draw a lot of different eyes, from a whole lot of different pictures. The parts of the face I want to practice are:

  • Mouth Done (in this post)
  • Ears Done (in that post)
  • Hair Done (in that post)
  • Eyes Done  (in that post)
  • Nose Done (in that post)

I will begin with the start of the list, and work my way through, and I will update this post as I go. I hope to get the first series, the mouths, done today.

Simon

Update: The mouths are done.

Update 2: The ears are done.

Update 3: The hair is done.

Update 4: The eyes are done.

Update 5: Noses are done now!

I ended up drawing 11 mouths. I would have made 13, but I grew a little bored, which I think made my drawings worse. I am not very happy with my eleventh mouth. But.. Now is the time for revealing, I give to you, my series of mouths:

Drawing of several mouths

Not the best scan, but drawings have always been difficult to scan right, so bear over with me. I also gathered the reference photos, so you can tell whether the drawings resemble them or not.

Next time I will draw ears, but I do not know when I will have time again, so I cannot promise a specific date. Hopefully before Christmas.

Please do comment if you have some observations or alike, or if you have anything to say really.

Edit: I will post the facial drawings in separate posts to avoid making a too long and too messy post. I will link to these posts in this post, so they will be easy to find.
